I wonder if anyone ever actually looks at this LiveJournal community anymore. Hello everyone!

Server Load

I'm sure most of you have noticed Ramath's rather sporadic up and down times today. It's just starting to get on my nerves a little bit. :/

Our apologies for the trouble. We are addressing a load issue on your server and we should have it resolved shortly. You should be back up shortly. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for emailing us back Jodie. The razzle server was just given a restart about 5 minutes ago due to some communication issues with the network. With that being said, the server is still undergoing its boot sequence and your websites will be back up within the hour.

Again, I am profusely sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused you. For the inconvenience, I have credited your account a total of $9.95 which is the equivalent of 1 month of free webhosting. Please accept this as a formal apology on my behalf for the constant issues that you have been having on the razzle webserver.

If you have any other questions pertaining to this matter, please do not hesitate to email me back and I will be more than happy to give you a helping hand, alright? :)

Um... That was nice of them... but, it still doesn't exactly fix the problem. Damn you, razzle. Can't wait until I have enough $$$ in order to get us a real, dedicated server. ;_;

Ral & LJ? Oh my!

Ellos, I be Madgirl on Ral, I'm an old school member and I remember the grader layout (oooh yes). Maybe not that old school but I must certainly have been here about 3 or 4 years cos I was still in high school hehe!

I welcome Ral's peeps to add my lj, it's not that interesting but it might be lol! x
What is going on? :/ More site problems today.

Seems like the server is having some sort of issues. I've sent yet another email to our host.

Edit: @ 6:55 MST
There have been reports of problems with the spunky cluster , we will re-open this status post until we have more information to what caused this problem. If you are on the spunky cluster and are experiencing downtime it is still due to the networking issue.

You think? Ramath is still down.

Edit again
I am terribly sorry about the downtime you have experienced today and the delay in responding to your issue. We have had some network issue that have prevented us from addressing your tickets in the timely manner you are use to. These issues may have also been the cause of your downtime.

Planned Downtime

Ramath-lehi is scheduled for some planned downtime. Our host is moving our web server to a new data centre. This move will begin Friday, March 21st, at 9PM PDT, and is expected to last up to 12 hours, until Saturday, March 22nd, 9AM PST.

March 21st
@ 7:50 pm PST: We’re about to begin to move the spunky cluster and our central machines. We’ll be taking down servers soon, but our status site, of course, will remain up and running.

Again, we’ll try to keep this move quick and painless as we possibly can, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

March 22nd
@02:45:26 PDT Webmail is up! 99% of all central services are functioning now. Spunky is 80% racked, more info on that to follow.

@ 03:40:27 PDT Spunky is coming up. We’re spotchecking and fixing troubled file, web, and mail servers. We’ll sound an all when all is clear… We will likely be firefighting for the next few hours.

@ 06:01:28 PDT Spunky is still coming up, we’re dealing with a couple of machines that didn’t survive the move and some more cleanup stuff. We’ll keep you posted as things progress!

Looks like everything is working now. Yay! \o/

Downtime / File Server Issue

We are currently experiencing problems with one of the file servers in the “spunky” cluster. An admin is already on the way to the data center to investigate. When the issue is resolved or we have further information an update will be posted. Our apologies for the issues, we are working to get this fixed up as soon as possible.
I'll keep you guys updated. :)
Update: 8:15am pacific: one of the fibrechannel interface cards died and had to be replaced. We’ve completed this process and the filer is back online now. Services should be back up as usual!
Problem solved. :)

Scheduled Downtime

More stuff with the host. At least I knew this one was coming.

As planned, we are beginning our emergency core router maintenance right now.

Our planned downtime window is 2 hours, during which all services including email, webmail, websites, ftp, ssh and the web panel will be offline. We will post updates here as things progress, so please keep an eye out and we’ll let you know when things are back online!

We are going to try to take care of as many things as we can during this maintenance window, so to minimize required outages in the future.

We greatly apologize for the inconvenience and thank all of you for your patience!

Oh, and Dumbledore is gay. :]

Network problems again.

Site's down again due to network problems. :(

"Sorry about the network problems. As has been documented on DreamHost status we have been dealing with network issues lately. We are on top of this problem right now and we’re working on getting things back up for you. We are in continued contact with Cisco support and we have outstanding tickets with them regarding these issues. Please check here for updates but we’ll do our best to get things working as soon as possible."

Site Down / Network Slow

Just in case you were wondering. The site is sort of kaput right now. server/host issues.
"We are currently experiencing some networking difficulties which is causing parts of our network to be inaccessible. This is affecting everyone in a random manner. We are working hard to fix the problem right now and will have an update for you soon."

Edit: Almost three hours later and it's still down. :/ There's an update from the host though.
"As of now the network is running at about 95%, we’re resolving the post for now while we continue investigating."

Hopefully things will be fixed shortly.

Edit: Fixed now?

DNS issues, continued

Huh. This is... sucky. Looks like the DNS issues that were only affecting Ramath-lehi, are now affecting all of the sites I own.

The host says that the problem is "under control" now, but it is still unresolved.

For those worried about data loss - don't be. It's just the domain name that is acting up, not the site itself. This is getting pretty retarded though. :/

Edit: Possibly fixed now? Let me know if you still can't connect.
